Electrical and Electronic Stuff!

Roger J. Wendell and an ML-5575/100 Tube Diode - 09-20-2026 Thanks to my father (also named Roger!) I developed a very early interest in electrical stuff, car motors, radio waves, and antennas. It was shortly after the age of five that, at my request, he started drawing simple electrical circuits for me to explain how they worked. There were also explanations of how radio waves made it into our car radio(!) in addition to detailed drawings of car pistons, cams, and valves.
 
Again, thanks to my dad I was hooked! I earned my first amateur radio license (WN6CDA) at the age of 14, became a Coast Guard radioman at age 19, and then a Postal mail processing equipment mechanic (industrial mechanic) and electronics technician at age 30. After that most of my career was as a manager but I still had a lot of contact with computers, industrial electronics, and large plant electrical systems. All of this still fascinates me and will be added to this page as I stumble across more of my old photos and circuit diagrams!
 
 
 
 
Photo at left: In September, 2026, I was introduced to this ML-5575/100 - it's a vintage, high-voltage industrial vacuum tube diode (often manufactured by Machlett Laboratories or General Electric). Historically, it was engineered for high-voltage rectification and electrostatic particle precipitation applications. This particular tube came from a carbon black plant in Borger, Texas.
